Phil Hellmuth: One of the Most Accomplished Players in the World Series of Poker

A top professional poker player residing in Palo Alto, California, Phil Hellmuth is probably the most accomplished competitor in the World Series of Poker. So far, no other poker player has been able to match his record of WSOP championship bracelets, which stands at 11. Besides such feat, he has also made 68 money finishes, which is also one of the highest ever made by a WSOP competitor. His WSOP earnings are currently valued at $6,008,145, a major feat that he has accomplished from 1988 to 2008.

Hellmuth won his first World Series of Poker title in 1989, barely his second year stint at the series. Among the three different events that he played at the 20th Annual WSOP, it was at the $10,000 No-Limit Holdem World Championship event that he was able to reach poker glory. Aside from the WSOP bracelet, he was also able to take home a grand $755,000 from that event alone. In 1992, he won his second WSOP title after he topped the $5,000 Limit Holdem event. Additionally, the victory also came with a hefty prize that is valued at $188,000.

Overall, one of the best performances of Hellmuth happened in 1993, when in the four events that he participated in the 24th Annual World Series of Poker, he finished thrice at the top spot and once with a second place performance. With such brilliant and stunning performance, no one has yet to match that incredible feat up to this very moment. The first place events included the $2,500 No-Limit Holdem, $1,500 No-Limit Holdem, and $5,000 Limit Holdem poker tournaments. In this particular season, he was able to win his third, fourth, and fifth WSOP championship bracelets.

In 1997, Hellmuth proved that he was still on the top of his game despite numerous world poker titles when he dominated the $3,000 Pot Limit Holdem event of the 28th Annual World Series of Poker. The win gave him his sixth WSOP bracelet as well as $204,000 in pot money. After that impressive year, it took four more years before reaching his seventh WSOP bracelet. In 2001, he won the $2,000 No-Limit Holdem of the 32nd Annual WSOP, which came with a $316,550 prize. In 2003, Hellmuth won his eighth and ninth WSOP bracelets after winning the $3,000 No-Limit Holdem and $2,500 Limit Holdem events of the 34th Annual WSOP.

Hellmuth won his 10th World Series of Poker championship bracelet in 2006, after he joined and got the top prize at the $1,000 No-Limit Holdem with Rebuys event of the 37th Annual WSOP. After that season, he participated in various poker events before capturing his 11th WSOP bracelet at the $1,500 No-Limit Holdem of the 38th Annual WSOP in 2007. His most recent WSOP championship gave him an edge over the other poker greats who got 10 WSOP bracelets each, namely Doyle Brunson and Johnny Chan.
