Joanne Jishung Liu: One of the Most Successful World Poker Tour Millionaires

From her hometown in Palo Alto City in California, Joanne Jishung Liu was able to establish herself as one of the most successful female poker players of all time. Born and raised in Taiwan, she moved her way into the U.S. to study at Bradley University, after which she discovered her interest and passion for the game while fulfilling a career as software engineer. Today, her name belongs with other legendary female poker players like Annette Obrestad, Annie Duke, and Kathy Liebert.

Overall, Liu played in 28 exciting poker tournaments under the World Poker Tour brand. In here, she reached the final table twice, while hitting five money finishes. With this impressive professional record, she becomes one of the successful female poker players of all time. Right now, her WPT earnings stand around $1,024,878, which is good for 88th best among all active professional poker players.

Liu's World Poker Tour career blossomed during the third season, where she joined the Aruba Poker Classic tournament. Despite finishing 162nd overall, she was able to bring home a decent $7,000. During the fourth season, things started to pick up for Liu, scoring one impressive finish after another. In that particular season, she joined the Grand Prix de Paris tournament where she finished 17th place overall plus an $18,738 take home prize. In the meantime, she also joined the World Poker Finals that was held at Foxwoods Resort Casino, where she ended up 58th best overall for the take home prize valued at $12,000. To close out a splendid season, Liu finished fourth best overall at the Five Diamond World Poker Classic tournament, which was held at the Bellagio. After putting up a very impressive performance, she took home around $362,140 in cash prizes.

In the fifth season of the World Poker Tour, Liu pulled off another fascinating performance at the Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament in California. Through her persistent plays and impressive strategies, she made the final table en route to a second place overall finish. That particular victory alone gave her a huge $600,000, enough to become one of the most successful poker millionaires of the World Poker Tour. Additionally, she also starred in the WPT Ladies' Night V tournament that was held at the Bicycle Casino in California, where she finished second-best overall.

Aside from the World Poker Tour, Liu also made strong performances in other major poker events like the World Series of Poker. In her long and colorful career as a professional poker player, she was able to post 12 money finishes despite the absence of a world poker championship. All of these records, feats, and milestones are enough to place her among the most respectable poker players of all time.
